Row NYC Is More New York Than New York

Times Square Hotel Captures Pulse Of New York City
NEW YORK, NY (March 2014) – With the completion of a two-year, $140 million development, Highgate Hotels and Rockpoint Group announce the launch of Row NYC. Located in the heart of Manhattan’s epicenter, Times Square, the illustrious property boasts 1,331 contemporary guest rooms. Just as each city street brings a new experience, Row NYC offers guests the excitement of exploring the city without leaving the hotel. The interior, art-driven environment and critically acclaimed cuisine make Row NYC the first of its kind to breathe imagination into a hotel experience in Times Square. Every aspect of the property delivers a sneak peek into what makes NYC one of the world’s most desirable destinations. Curated by the best in their respected fields, Row NYC represents the pulse of New York and delivers it with style and comfort.

Row NYC turned to renowned New York based architectural and interior design firm Gabellini Sheppard Associates to revolutionize the property’s public spaces. Inspired by the refined grittiness of New York City, Gabellini Sheppard has delivered grandeur. “The bold aesthetic speaks to the area’s unbridled spirit and engages the excitement and energy that is Times Square,” said Michael Gabellini, Partner.
The design celebrates the culture, entertainment, history and the best this city has to offer.”

Immediately upon entering, a 24-foot high crystalline glass façade draws upon the electricity of Times Square. The two-story space is connected by an illuminated grand staircase adding a sense of drama and theatrics as guests are led into the artistically crafted lobby with industrial and organic materials, including stainless steel drapery, concrete, multiple wood species and neon. The most striking addition is the umbrella-like ceiling, resembling a giant wooden puzzle throughout the vast main space. It provides a feeling of suspension and infinity, while adding warmth to the environment.
The reception area is flanked by two light sculptures on which groundbreaking New York-based artist Yorgo Alexopoulos projects an abstract tableau of graphic animations timed throughout the course of a New York City day. The dynamic lobby also features Iconic M, a satellite location of the cult international news retailer Soho News, as well as an expansive state-of-the-art Internet lounge and complimentary WiFi throughout the property.
Around the corner, District M lobby bar and restaurant offers a European style eatery open for breakfast and dinner with a diverse and quality crafted menu from some of NYC’s finest European bakeries and bistros including Payard, Balthazar and Pain d’Avignon. At night, District M transforms into a cozy lounge where guests can recap their day, listen to live music or just watch NYC go by. The evening menu satisfies even the most selective New Yorker, as well as foodies alike. Offerings include a hand-selected cheese program from Murray’s cheese shop in Greenwich Village, prized domestic and international charcuterie, and signature Neapolitan-style, hand-stretched pizzas. Specialty cocktails, wine and craft beer complement the menu.

The focal point of District M is the much-anticipated commissioned digital art gallery by paparazzo extraordinaire, Ron Galella, dubbed the “Godfather of the U.S. paparazzi culture” by Time magazine. The digital gallery will present still photographs capturing the hedonistic heyday of New York City during the late seventies and early eighties. Never before seen photographs by Galella will be on display within the new guest and entertainment suites.
A full-fledged food market, City Kitchen, is set to open in Row NYC in 2014, offering even more cuisine from beloved New York City restaurants. It will be a respite for foodies who work in the area and allow hotel guests to get a taste of New York’s finest without ever having to leave the property. City Kitchen is positioned to raise the culinary bar for Times Square, offering fare from some of the most buzzed about food spots in NYC.

Guests take a walking tour of NYC’s downtown neighborhoods on the upper hotel floors where leading architectural firm Gensler set out to create an experience that would transport guests to Soho, the East Village, Greenwich Village, the Lower East Side and the Meatpacking District by commissioning a photographer to produce images of these iconic destinations. The guest rooms flaunt Manhattan-inspired décor in white-hot hues mixed with vibrant custom furnishings. A primary color palette inspired by the city’s subway system adds an additional fun and lighthearted travel experience.
